How Ojo Maduekwe,BoT Paralyse PDP

The partisan role played by former Transport Secretary Ojo Maduekwe
and Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party has been
identified as the main reason for deepening leadership crisis rocking
the party,investigations by Sahel Standard has revealed.

Chief Maduekwe was alleged to have rail roaded the Board of Trustees
to hand over the party leadership to the Ahmed Makarfi’s caretaker
committee at a time the board was expected to be holding fort pending
the reconciliation and harmonisation of the two factions.

Maduekwe reportedly stepped on the stage and truncated the original
plan of the trustees to mediate between the two factions even while
refusing to hand over to any of the faction.

Insider report indicated that the former Ambassador influenced by the
PDP governor rejected the observations of some trustees that the
electoral body would not recognised a caretaker committee as well as
the danger it poses to the electoral chances of the party in the
forthcoming Edo and Ondo governorship race.

A source within the board said the board chairman ,Walid Jubril was
manipulated by Maduekwe and Prof Jerry Gana to the extent that ” the
trustees become part of the problem rather than the solution. It was
shocking seen the trustees chairman among hoodlums collecting key to
the party secretariat.

” If we had stayed on,if the board had simply taken over to enforce
harmonisation among the two factions,we will not be where we are now.
But Maduekwe forced us to hand over to Makarfi. We then lost our voice
as the conscience of the party. Let me say the BoT failed to play the
role of elder in the conflict”, the source said.

Our investigations revealed that because of the role of Chief Maduekwe
and the board,PDP may have played into the waiting arms of the ruling
party.

According to an insider,” INEC wont recognise a caretaker committee
,asking what happen to us in Edo and Ondo?.

” Can you imagine DSS and police mediating among PDP warring factions?
Is that not what the BoT is expected to do? We allow Fayose and Wike
through Maduekwe to misled us”, the insider said.

Meanwhile ,some PDP trustees are reported to be reviewing the
situation in an attempt to restore the neutrality and moral conscience
of the BoT.
