An Abuja Federal High
Court on Thursday granted former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro two weeks
permission to travel abroad for medical check up.
This follows an application by counsel to the former
Minister, Paul Erokoro, SAN, to this effect.
Abdallah argued that the former Minister failed to provide
sufficient materials to warrant the court granting the motion.
He further argued that Moro failed to present before the
court evidence of an appointment with a foreign doctor.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, however, permitted Moro to travel
abroad for medical treatment but must avail himself during the next court
session which was fixed for September 29.
The judge also ordered the release of Moro’s international
passport, which has been in custody of the court’s registrar.
Moro was also directed to return his passport to the court
48 hours after his return.
Moro alongside a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry
of Interior, Mrs. Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia, an ex-director in the ministry,
Felix .O Alayebami and a firm, Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited, are currently
standing trial for alleged complexity in the botched 2014 recruitment exercise
of the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has
arraigned them on an 11-count charge.
