Edo State Labour Party holds Congress

  In preparation for the Edo Labour Party Governorship primaries which come up Monday 4th July, the State chapter of the party has rounded up their congresses which started with the wards on June 30th.

 
 The congress which started at about 10.35 am, had 112 delegates in attendance. The positions were keenly contested for. At the end of the exercise, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi emerged the State Chairman while Comrade Akhere Frederick picked the Secretary slot.
 

 In his acceptance speech, the Chairman elect Kelly Ogbaloi promised to lead the party to the Edo government house come September 10, 2016. He said fairness and justice will be the watchword of the newly elected exco. He added that the congress was quite elating and interesting. "The process was transparent and rancour free", he said.
 
 Representing the National President of the Labour Party, the National Secretary Barr. Julius Abure said "today's congress is the climax of the congresses which started in the various wards since June 30th. This is to fulfil our promise to the people that Labour party will make a difference". He said those that lose accepted the result in good faith and that the way and manner the congress went reflected the high level of maturity possessed by members of the party.
 
 On his part, a Labour Party governorship aspirant, Pastor Areloegbe Amos said he was very impressed with the success of the congress. According to him, "it was good, laudable, free and fair. Labour Party is back on track and will take over the government house". He called on the new executives to do things with fairness saying Labour Party is one big family that is set to take over the affairs of the nation.
 
 The new executives are expected to serve for 4 years.
