Residents of Kaduna has decried the hazardous air pollution of the air by Pepsi vehicles and dangerous driving around Kaduna town. Speaking to some pressmen at Lagos round about, a printer who pleaded anonymity lamented that ‘’Pepsi drivers are generally reckless on the road especially from Peugeot junction to station and from station to stadium and Lagos round about. And we all know how hazardous smoke from these vehicles is to our health, please let KEPA, KASTELEA help us’’
Saidu Bulus a motor cyclist also lamented the reckless manner in which Pepsi drivers drive within the town calling on Federal Road Safety to organize training workshop for the drivers and also assist in stepping up maintenance culture.
Our correspondent who went on fact finding mission came across Pepsi and 7up trucks which were in poor condition and heavily emitting smoke.
Reacting to the issue both the Head of Transport and Head Transport Engineering Mr. Lawrence Agban and Shoola Adewale respectively admitted that ‘’few vehicles are in bad state and emitting smoke but such vehicles are in the workshop and undergoing repairs.
Agban further revealed that ‘’sometimes we refer trucks in bad conditions to our workshops for repairs but because the drivers are also on target for their sales they sometimes sneak such trucks out but we have introduce disciplinary measures to curtail such practices.
