Niger State Governor, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Sani Bello has expressed optimism that the present economic hardship being faced in the country would soon be a thing of the past.The Governor expressed this optimism on Wednesday shortly after the two rakaat prayers marking the end of Ramadan and commemorating this year's Eid el-Fitr at Minna Eid praying ground.
"The present economic situation in the country is a phase that will soon be history. Our leaders at various levels are committed to finding lasting solution to the on-going economic hardship caused global economic recession.
"For us in Niger state, we are meticulously fashioning programmes and policies that will bail us out of the woods, set the state on a threshold of economic buoyancy and put the state on sound economic pedestal. Currently we are re-tooling avenues for internally generated revenue (IGR) to reduce our dependence on federation allocation. Sooner than expected, we shall bounce back," the governor predicted.
Governor Sani Bello then urged Nigerians to remain prayerful and always commit our leaders to Allah's guidance and wisdom that will enable them profer enduring solution to the nation's present economic predicament.
He also enjoined Nigerlites to be vigilant and security conscious. The governor challenged them to continue to exemplify the lessons learnt during the holy month of Ramadan.
In his goodwill message to mark the Eid el-Fitr, Former head of state, General Abdulsalam Abubakar prayed for continued peace in the country while hoping Nigerians will imbibe the teachings of the Ramadan which hinged on peace and sacrifice
The Governor who was accompanied by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar later led members of his administration to the Hill Top residence of former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida to feliciate with the elder statesman and to wish him happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Several Muslim clerics took turn to offer prayers for the good health of the elder statesman as well as the posterity and peacefully existence of the country.
