How Buhari Curtailed Insurgents I‎n North East - Gov Abubakar

President Muhammadu Buhari has within his one year of assumption of office
been able to curtail the activities of insurgents in the North-Eastern part
of the country and the people can now sleep with their two eyes closed,
Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State has said.

The Governor who spoke in Kaduna at a programme tagged
"PMB at One: Our Verdict" ‎ organized by CITAR NGO, said before the coming
of the Buhari administration, Nigerians were thrown into confusion due to
insecurity and so many societal ills.

Represented by Hajiya Jummai Garba, a Liason officer, Governor Abubakar
also stated that they believe in Buhari by Nigerians ‎and the change mantra
of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has no doubt motivated him to
stir the revolution that will bring succour to the teeming masses.

According to him, ‎"The believe in President Muhammadu Buhari by Nigerians
‎and the change mantra of the ruling APC has no doubt motivated him (the
President) to stir the revolution that will bring about the neccesary
change and succour to the teeming masses of Nigeria. Before the inception
of this administration, the people of this country were thrown into
confusion due to insecurity, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and so many
societal ills.

"But with the support and cooperation given to Nigerian military by the
President within this first year of his administration, the government was
able to curtail the activities of insurgents in the North-Eastern part of
the country. The North-East sub-region in particular and the country in
general can now sleep with their two eyes closed," he said.

Governor Abubakar explained that the revolution which kicked out PDP and
brought in APC to the helm of affairs was the best for the nation, assuring
that the APC government is determined to improve the living standard of the
people through the provision of employment opportunities and other welfare
packages.

"Recruitment in some parastatals such as Nigerian Police, Immigration, etc
has commenced and it will help to tackle the problem of unemployment. ‎The
measures taken by the government to end the recent fuel crises is also
highly commendable as it has ended the fuel scarcity and queues have
dissapeared from the filing stations," Abubakar added.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of CITAR NGO, Muhammad Alhaji
Yakubu, blamed the escalation of insurgency on former President Goodluck
Jonathan, saying that he was governing the country almost the same way
insurgents were governing their 'caliphates' through mindless straling and
destruction of everything they see.

Yakubu commended President Buhari for his anti curruption fight and called
on him to demonstrate total openness and accountability by ‎putting the
recovered stolen monies into a special trust fund account.
