Nigerians have been advised to always cross check their facts on
sensitive issues rather than spread rumours for selfish reasons.

The Emir of Birnin Gwari, Alhaji Zubairu Jibril Mai Gwari II gave the
advice when Global Peace Foundation Nigeria visited Birnin Gwari on
Thursday for a sensitization on its ‘One family Under God’
campaign.

The Emir who spoke through the District Head of Tsakiya, Ja’afaru Zubairu
Jibril, explained that rumour mongering does a lot of havoc to the society,
as many innocent souls and properties are lost as a fall out of rumours.

He applauded the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria for choosing the area
for its campaign which he noted will go a long way in strengthening the
bond of oneness amongst the diverse people in the area.

The Emir also tasked those present to scale up the message One Family
Under God to their immediate community so as to achieve the best result.

Earlier, the Northern Co-coordinator Global Peace Foundation Nigeria,
Rev. Joseph John Hayab said the purpose of the visit was to strengthen
peace building process in the community, encourage them to take ownership
of the process and to respect each other’s differences.

He noted that the ‘One Family Under God’ Campaign was created out of the
desire that, all human being irrespective of religion and race are
descendants of Adam and Eve which makes us members of one family in the
eyes of God.

Also in his contribution, the Northern Co-coordinator, Sheikh Halliru
Abdullahi Maraya, noted that all humans must learn to live according to the
teachings of their religion, noting that it is the only way to peaceful
coexistence.

He pointed out that selfishness; ignorance and illiteracy are the major
causes of violence in the society, hence, GPFN desire to disabuse the mind
of the people through the ‘One Family Under God’ Campaign.

Speaking separately, Adullahi Abubakar, Nasiru Mohammad Liman, and Sahabi
Aliyu Mohammed commended GPFN for its foresight and advised the Foundation
to educate religious leaders on the importance of preaching on what unites
the people than what divides them as a people.
