In an attempt to forestall future breakdown of law and order in Makarfi
and Ikara Communities, the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, championing the
cause of ‘One family Under God’ Campaign has sensitised over fifty persons
in each of the two communities on Tuesday 16th August 2016, on the
importance of peaceful coexistence.

Speaking at the sensitization programme in Makarfi, While thanking the
Global Peace Foundation Nigeria for promoting peaceful coexistence within
his domain through its ‘One Family Under God’ Campaign the Member
representing Makarfi / Kudan Federal Constituency in the National Assembly,
Alhaji Mohammed Usman Appealed to Nigerians to embrace dialogue in
resolving their  differences rather than violence for improved
socio-economic growth.

Earlier, the Northern Co-coordinator GPFN Rev. Joseph John Hayab noted
that peace remains the bedrock for any societal development.

He explained that, the choice of the communities was not because there
was crisis currently in the communities but to further cement the existing
peace the area was witnessing and to enlighten the people on the importance
of recognising each other irrespective of their tribe or religion as
brothers and sister of the same ancestral parents of Adam and Eve as
contained the Holy Quran and Holy Bible.

Rev. Hayab emphasised that God in his wisdom has a purpose of making us
belong to one religion, group or believe as human beings so that we may
live together and respect each other’s differences.

Also in a remark, the Northern Co-coordinator GPFN, Sheikh Halliru
Abdullahi Maraya, urged followers of the two major faiths in Nigeria
(Christian and Islam) to ensure they stick to the teachings of their
religions and to learn to be their brother’s keeper.

While shading more light to the ‘One Family Under God’ campaign, Maraya,
advised that any human you meet on the road is your brother or sister
ancestrally irrespective of tribe or religion hence, what you don’t want
others to do to you brother, sister, son or daughter, you should not do it
to someone’s.

He, however, noted that crisis does not solve matters rather destroys,
and God who is the sole owner of human lives and the religion we follow
should be allowed to fight for his cause instead of taking up arms in the
name of protecting religion.

Responding separately on behalf of the participants in Ikara and Makarfi,
the CAN chairman Ikara local government, Yahaya Galadima and the JNI PRO in
Ikara, Lawal Tahir, Mrs. Elizabeth in Makarfi and the chief Imam of Makarfi
all applauded the foresight of GPFN noting that the campaign was timely and
apt considering the way most people are living their lives with their
neighbours.

They all pledged o scale up the message of peace and oneness to their
immediate communities.
